Welcome to Ontario

Harley hears the roar before he sees it — a giant white cloud where the river leaps into the sky. “That is the loudest bath I have ever seen,” he decides. Dad laughs. Later, among warm green leaves and drifting wings, everything turns gentle again… and Harley meets a new friend.

The Story

At Niagara Falls, mist sprinkles Harley’s whiskers while rainbows hide and seek in the spray. He stands shoulder to shoulder with Dad, both of them quiet in that big, thundering moment.

A day later, they step into the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory. Warm air. Green light. Wings that whisper. A butterfly lands right on Harley’s blue collar. He freezes. Dad smiles. The butterfly does not fly away; she simply rests, as if to say, “You are safe with us.”

They name her Beatrice. She rides on Harley’s shoulder for three whole steps before fluttering off into the leaves, and Harley whispers, “Thank you,” to the quiet air.

Beatrice the Butterfly

Bright wings, kind heart. Beatrice is a gentle guide who reminds Harley that change can be beautiful. She loves warm sunbeams, quiet corners, and the soft places where stories begin.

When Harley feels wiggly on long drives, Beatrice suggests a deep breath and a window view. “Sometimes you grow just by watching the world,” she says.

Harley’s note: “I did not chase her. She chose to stay. That is a good kind of friendship.”
