Welcome to New Brunswick

Harley watches the ocean tiptoe away from the shore and blinks. “Did the sea forget something?” Dad grins. “Give it a few hours.” When the tide comes racing back at Hopewell Rocks, Harley cheers like a one-dog parade. The Bay of Fundy knows how to put on a show.

The Story

In a seaside village, a lobster boat chugs into the harbour. Harley sniffs the salty air and eyes the menu board. “Lobster roll,” he reads, a little worried. Dad kneels beside him. “Today we meet a lobster, not eat a lobster.” Harley exhales with relief.

At a wharf-side shop, a bright red plush waves from a basket. Big smile. Bigger claws. “Hi! I am Lobbie,” he declares, clacking happily. Harley laughs. “You have excellent mittens.” Lobbie explains tides, traps, and the fisherman who always sets him gently back in the basket.

That evening they cross a covered bridge, Oliver humming in the dusk. Lobbie rides on the dash, saluting every boat light. Harley whispers, “Friends are the best souvenirs.” Dad nods. “Exactly.”

Lobbie the Lobster

Energetic and proud of his bright red shell, Lobbie loves sunrise docks, fog horns, and waving at boats with both claws at once. He is an expert on tides and a champion of kindness at the wharf.

Lobbie’s motto: “Use your claws for applause.” He reminds Harley that courage can be gentle and that the sea always comes back.

Harley’s note: “We did not order lobster. We adopted one.”
