Welcome to Nova Scotia

The ferry groans, the sea breeze swirls, and Harley presses his nose to the glass. “It smells like salt, snacks, and adventure!” Dad laughs. “Then this must be Nova Scotia.”

The Story

Harley and Dad climb aboard the Bluenose II. The sails stretch high above them like giant clouds. Dad tips his hat. “Ready, First Mate?” Harley salutes. “Aye aye, Captain Dad!”

The ocean spray tickles Harley’s nose, and he laughs so hard he nearly falls into the wind. Later, at a seaside village, a fisherman hands Harley a mussel. He gives it a sniff… then a lick… then politely spits it out. “Salty!” he yelps.

On shore, a souvenir stall shines with shells and plushies. One in particular catches Harley’s eye: a shaggy Highland cow with kind eyes and soft brown fur. Dad smiles. “Looks like you’ve found MacGregor.”

Plushie of the Chapter

MacGregor the Highland Cow

Big, gentle, and wise, MacGregor is a soft Highland Cow plushie with long shaggy fur and calm brown eyes. He carries the warmth of Nova Scotia’s hills wherever he goes.

His voice is slow and soothing, perfect for story time when Harley can barely keep his eyes open. MacGregor’s advice: “Take your time, lad. The best journeys aren’t rushed.”

Harley’s note: “MacGregor gives the best hugs and never complains about my wet fur.”
